Week 57 Chincha Alta

Happy Monday!

First off, Incredibles 2.   It was super good, really good.  BUT, man, Pixar has jumped on the dark movie bandwagon as well haha.  Nevertheless, it was super good.

We had a super miracle week.  In the mission we can't count investigators with a baptismal date until they come to church.  We went up 4 people with baptismal dates this week!  One is a family.  With Gisela, William, William jr, and Estefani. They came to church last week. William is an inactive member.  He is kind of struggling with alcohol but we made some intense promises with him.  As he is learning to trust in those said promises he is beginning to see a lot of change.  The other investigator is Brenda.  She said in the first lesson that she felt the Spirit at church and wants to be baptized.  We said hold up hold up, we gotta teach you first haha.  Luciano is set to be baptized now that his mom got done giving birth. And the Molino family, Patricia and William, didn't come to church, we had an intense lesson after and told them what they need to do get an answer to their prayers.  He seemed moved, because we had 4 members there giving their testimonies.

We just played soccer today for P-day.  Our Christmas celebrations last week were super good.  We ate Turkey with the Bishop.  My comp loved the gifts.  And I got everything I needed!  Thanks!

Thats my time, Love you guys!!!

PS I need more lead for that pencil thing and a booklight. That's about it.

Week 56 Chincha Alta

Merry Christmas Eve!

I had a super great week!   We went to Lima on Thursday until Saturday so we didn't have a whole ton of time to proselyte.  We decided to contact Filibertha, she came by a member invitation to an activity in the church, and she told us to come over.  We went over and she had just invited like 6 of her friends and all of their children.  It was kind of a miracle to find so much in just a small amount of time.  We even have a few progressing right now.  They are Jiuliana, Gisela and her kids.

We had to move on from Sergio and Edita but in turn, we put a baptismal date with a family of 4 and they not only accepted but have come to church a couple of times.  Their names are Patricia, William, Joseph and Byron.  We are excited to see their progress.  We are preparing the baptismal service for Luciano.  We think he will be baptized this week, and if not, next week no later.

We went to Lima like I said earlier.  We have a little zone conference about how to use time better, then we passed it to a Christmas celebration!  It was super sweet.  All the zones had their little skits and they were super funny, some of them were a little bit far, but most had a good message haha.  Then we had to coordinate stressful travel plans to return, not the funnest part about being a leader haha.

Well that's all I got this week!   Thanks for reading my quick note, love you guys!!

Week 55 Chincha Alta

Happy Monday!!

We had another super successful week.  I am super happy with the progress of our investigators.  We visited Edita and her family yesterday, they are getting (finally) all of their papers in for marriage!!  The family of four committed themselves to being baptized and later married in the temple.  Way excited.   Our other investigators are also doing well. Especially Luciano, he has buddies in all of the Young Mens program, he'll be baptized with Edita on the 29th.

We are keeping up with our focus on #LightChincha.  We are having huge success with that.  I'm setting up family home evenings all over the ward.  They are inviting their nonmember friends and we are gaining their trust.  Every week in December we have 30+ referrals from members!  I'm sending in a few of my own referrals over to St. George as well so I can help out the work at home :)

Christmas is getting way close!  I'm going to travel to Lima Thursday to go to a Christmas zone conference as a mission!  We are also going to be with the zone Christmas day.  I'm thinking about setting up a gift exchange with some board games.  It'll be pretty cool.
Well that's all the news today.  Thanks for reading this little note.  I love you guys and pray for your well being!

Week 54 Chincha Alta

Happy Transfers!!

What a miracle, this will be my fourth transfer in Chincha!!  Finally I'm not jumping around haha, as much as I loved dipping in and out of 3 areas I'm glad to settle in and get to work on my baptismal goal. This will be my 2nd transfer with Elder Correa.

We are a zone about #IluminaElMundo!!!  We are always focused on looking for ways to #IluminarChincha haha.  We had a little poster made that our beloved member friend Juan Jesus made that looks almost identical to the contact card, and we are using it to have them post a photo with us on their social media and we are planning to find all the people that like their post.  We are doing FHE nights a ton this month!

We ended up having a super successful week, we have 6 lined up for baptism, and 7 on deck haha.  We found Edita and Sergio and their kids again, they didn't want to get married a while ago, but they wanted us to come over again so that they could try again.  Their change of heart seems sincere, they always come to church, they just have that one problem that keeps them from progressing. They are actually taking action now with their marriage!  We are super happy with that!  Another investigator we have is Luciano, he has been coming to church forever and to tell the truth I had no idea he hadn't been baptized, but now we are going to get him in the font, hopefully with his parents.  He basically lives with his aunt and uncle, and we hope to get the parents married and baptized as well.  They are super good.  Then we have Maria Soto with a baptismal date.  With her, God kind of hit me for judging her I think haha.  She is an Israelite, they need to have a ton of bible knowledge before like entering the church or something.  The first lesson with her was super funny, she kept asking us random questions about the bible.  Like "the difference between the son of man, and the Son of Man," "sabbath day on Saturday" and many more contentious questions.  But the second lesson she told how she is schizophrenic and just wants to find the truth.  She committed herself to come to church, and came, and prayed to know.  She is coming to know the answers to her prayers now and accepted a baptismal date.  What a tender mercy.

We are going to be baptizing like crazy and hope that the home ward will keep baptizing!! I love the words of Russel M Ballard, "If you think baptism, you will baptize!"  I'll be sending some referrals for the missionaries to work with in our ward haha.

Thanks for reading my little ramble, I'll be heading off to the battle!   I love you guys!  I have all the information about the Skype call, I'll call you guys with the final say this week or the next.  For now just have the accounts ready, I think I have the information in my other planner but just in case you can send it again.

Week 53 Chincha Alta

Woaaaaaa You're Halfway There, Woaaaa Ohhhh...
...Lizard on a chaaair.

It has been a super good week, we have honestly seen so many miracles it's not even us that found all of these people haha.  We had a rough day in the chapel, but the members just decided to bring all of their friends to church haha, what a blessing.

We have had some good success with some of the multi zone conference things they talked about.  They talked about three focuses we have had a lot of success with.  One of them was "Rat Rod."  Basically one missionary in the office was walking with our mission president, and he saw one of those rat looking cars and yelled "RAT ROD" and President Richey immediately said "contact him now!"  Super funny, but we have seen success by looking for little things that stick out in these people's houses.

Another one was Ronaldo's referrals.  Basically it's when we have a visit with someone we should contact everyone in our path, and the neighbors of the investigator we are about to visit.  And man I don't think I've found so many people in one week in my entire mission haha.  It's super successful.

And another one is being ambitious and realistic in our goals.  They talked a bit about becoming emotionally involved in your goals.   It reminds me of that Timberline saying about visions, "if you can see it, you can be it."   Kind of applied it to my own circumstance as "if you can see it, you can achieve it."

Glad to see you all had a great thanksgiving!  We sure did too, we are 12 Americans in the zone and 2 Latinos so we got together at a member house that does Pension for a neighbor ward, Sunampe, and had a Thanksgiving lunch!  There was a ton to eat, but the best part was the pumpkin pie!!  I haven't even seen a pumpkin for a more than a year hahaha.

That's about it this week, thanks for your support!!  I love and pray for all of you!!  Brady is doing a great job with music, keep it up!!!  I've been cracking into my Christmas music now! We'll be seeing you later!  Love you!!

Con mucho amor,
Elder Olsen

We cleaned up a bit, had no clue one closet could fit so many folletos haha.

Week 52 Chincha Alta

Happy Monday!!

We had a super great week this week!! We had a super good multi zone conference by Elder Falabela. He talked about the Book of Mormon and why it is so important in the conversion of investigators. We learned a ton and we will start applying it in the work. The Book of Mormon truly is essential. I got to play piano, for the multi zone conference, kind of cool playing there. I also directed the special musical number we did, "I know that my Redeemer Lives!" It was a process and a half but we got it going and the missionaries sounded great!!
\
We had a hopeful couple of days. We lost a ton of investigators and we were walking a ton without appointments, Rosa and Gomer, a couple of progressing investigators, didn't come to church thanks to travel. All those things are happening, but it just means Satan is about to lose big hahaha ;) We have been contacting a ton of people and we are starting to see a bunch of hope, we will achieve our goals! We are super excited for what the Lord has in store for us.

We had a super great P'day last week, we went to go climb that one mountain again, I've probably done it about four times now haha. But that's what the zone wanted to do so that's what we did. It was super fun, but it's always kind of wierd to walk with a group of 12 gringos with only 2 latinos haha. Our zone is so crazy.

We are getting super prepared for #LightChincha hahaha. We are going to do a lot of stuff there, we love some of the ideas and revelation we have recieved about it. Is our home stake getting prepared with their service day and special sacrament meeting? I hope so! We are programming a mini MTC for the youth on the 29th of December.

I LOVE YOU GUYS!!! I hope you have a super great week over there in St. George. I pray for you guys all the time, Sigan adelante con firmeza en Cristo! Be obedient, be virtuous, and be charitable.

Elder Olsen
