Good morning! We have had a successful week here in the ward. Good ol Miguel Grau has been seeing a lot of success recently with all of the investigators that are starting to progress. We have been contacting basically every family we see and we are seeing the fruits. They are starting to progress. Slowly but surely!
We have a baptism coming up!! Brenda is a young woman that was contacted with her mom in the street by Elder Montes de Oca and his companion Elder Rodriguez. After a lot of time she will be baptized Saturday. We have always had to push back her baptismal date due to lack of support from her parents, mostly her dad, but her mom also is trying to string out her baptism feeling she isn't "ready." It got to the point were we had to fast. We fasted with her to soften her parents hearts, and then we visited her on Sunday. Her family are drunk a lot, fighting a lot, but in the short time we taught them, they were extremely receptive. Granted they are unmarried but the Lord knows His sheep and is willing to soften others' hearts in order to bring them back. Her faith and ours is the only reason she will be baptized. A lot of miracles have happened in her investigation. We had to fight for her baptism a bit. Her mom didn't feel that she was ready, so we went with the Spirit and taught the mom about baptism. How they don't need to be perfect, but rather willing to complete the covenant said in Mosiah 18. I shared a story about how I love to hike up mountains and related a mountain climb to investigation, I told her Brenda is just a baptism away from a beautiful view. She signed the paper and will be baptized, thanks only to God haha, wouldn't be a chance without Him
We have been seeing success in the members in our ward. We have 4 young men approaching their missions and working hard with us and our investigators. Joseph, a convert at the beginning of this transfer, has an extremely good testimony about how the Gospel has changed his life. He is an excellent young man and will serve a great mission in the future.
One theme we always share with the members is their OLA. Ola means wave in spanish, but in this case it means, Oracion Lectura and Asistencia. Meaning Prayer Reading and Attendance, PRA doesn't have the same ring to it haha. but we have found that a lot of members don't do those 3 things so we share the story about Moses with the bronze (or gold cant remember) serpent and the Liahona. We love relating Alma 37:6-7 in these stories. You all should start up the good ol family BoM study if you aren't doing it now, just read 5 minutes and pray and I promise it'll help you all to be blessed in the family.
